This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
The grandaddy of Canadian punk and new wave compilations, Vancouver Complication included everyone from D.O.A., Pointed Sticks and Subhumans to long-forgotten outfits like BIZ and Active Dog. Listening to this 25th anniversary reissue (on D.O.A. leader Joey (Shithead) Keithley’s Sudden Death label) is like looking at an old yearbook from the graduating class of Rock ‘n’ Roll High School.
FIRST RELEASED: 1979.
HIGHLIGHTS: The new wave ditty U-J3RK5 Work for Police, D.O.A.’s I Hate You and Kill, Kill, This is Pop, The Dishrags’ choppy I Don’t Love You, Subhumans’ snarling Urban Guerrilla, and The K-Tels’ / Young Canadians Beatles-pop gem I Hate Music, penned by the one and only Art Bergmann.
EXTRAS! EXTRAS! Five leftovers, including punky covers of Sea Cruise and the Gilligan’s Island theme by something or someone called Rude Norton.
