Classic Album Review: Prefuse 73 | Surrounded By Silence

This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Producer Scott Herren cuts and pastes together a third set of experimental hip-hop featuring lurching low-impact grooves, glitchy textures, knob-twiddler production and guest rhymers like Ghostface, GZA, Masta Killa, Aesop Rock, Beans and El-P. Most of these 21 cuts are less freakishly fractured than his previous work, but hey, I’ll take IDM over ADD any day.
