Classic Album Review: A Frames | Black Forest

This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

 


Edgy sawtooth guitars, thumpy trashcan drums, lumpy one-finger basslines and doomy deadpan vocals have seldom coalesced into tunes as insidiously catchy as the noisy dada ditties of this co-ed Seattle noise-punk trio. Imagine Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band circa Doc At The Radar Station with Ian Curtis singing lines like “Mirror, mirror on the wall / Who’s the loneliest of all?”
