Classic Album Review: Lola Ray | I Don’t Know You

The New York power-popsters introduce themselves with their artful debut album.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

You won’t find a Lola in Lola Ray. Or a Ray, for that matter.

But you will find plenty of emotionally potent, artfully penned power-pop on this New York foursome’s introductory full-length effort I Don’t Know You. If they can pen a few bigger, hookier choruses next time, plenty of people might get to know them soon enough.
