Classic Album Review: Drekka | Extractioning

This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Indiana indie-label owner Michael Anderson has a lonely acoustic guitar, some sort of old keyboard, a plaintive voice and a love for starkly ominous bedroom-fi folk experiments that make Guided By VoicesRobert Pollard sound like Burt Bacharach.

Or at least he did — Extractioning’s songs were released on cassette back in 1998, only to be remastered for this set. That’s nice and all, but I’d rather hear what Anderson could extract from his imagination now.
