THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Second album by one-piece psychedelic stoner rock band Electric Yawn. All recorded and mixed in a dark room in Western Sydney, Australia.”
That’s pretty much all it says on Electric Yawn’s Bandcamp page. Ditto the Facebook page. And I can’t find a website or photos or any other info online. So allow me to augment: Some anonymous Australian dude (I don’t know for sure it’s a dude, but come on, you know it’s a dude) who clearly has way too much time on his hands — not to mention absurd amounts of talent, creativity, ambition, vision, equipment and drugs (I don’t know for sure he takes drugs, but come on, you know he takes drugs) — presents an astonishing slate of gargantuan, multi-part instrumental stoner-psyche epics that advance and retreat and ebb and flow and rise and fall with all the fearsome power and unexpected grandeur of the sand worms that populate the Frank Herbert book that inspired the title of this insanely trippy yet undeniably rocking 70-minute sophomore freakfest, which probably also serves as an alternate score to the David Lynch movie is you synch it up just right and consume the proper substances so they kick in right at the proper time (I also don’t know this, but come on, you know it). Douse the lights, crank the volume and meet your new favourite crazy-ass Australian band. What is it with the Australians?
