Classic Album Review: The Wedding Present | Take Fountain

This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Reunited and it sounds so good.

On this long-awaited comeback from Britpop romantics The Wedding Present, singer-guitarist David Gedge melds the grandly tragic anthems of his heyday with the lush, sophisticated soundtrack orchestrations of his late-’90s outfit Cinerama. The result: 10 magnificent breakup songs brimming with searing six-strings, sweeping strings and wry lyrics like, “I admit we had some memorable days / But just not very many.” Treat yourself to this Present.
