Classic Album Review: Heavy Trash | Heavy Trash

This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Blues Explosion garage-punk evangelist Jon Spencer turns rockabilly boogie man with the aid of Speedball Baby / Madder Rose bassist Matt Verta-Ray.

Together they fry up a baker’s dozen slices of greasy southern-fried choogle loaded with twangy licks, Elvis-inspired vocals, slapback echo, hiccupping vocals and bashmaster beats. Heavy? That depends on your definition. But trash? Not on your life, son.
