Classic Album Review: X | The Best: Make The Music Go Bang

If you don't know how great the L.A. punks were, this set will set you straight.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Buzzsaw Chuck Berry guitars. Edgy, frantic rhythms. And the Johnny-and-June-gone-bad harmonies of John Doe and Exene.

Anybody who doesn’t know that X were one of the most original and dynamic bands to emerge from the ’70s punk scene needs to hear this two-disc set that condenses their career down to 46 memorable highlights including Johnny Hit And Run Pauline, Hungry Wolf and We’re Desperate.
