Classic Album Review: Iron & Wine | Our Endless Numbered Days

The Florida folkie sweeps you off your feet — even when he sings about death.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Thanks to the soothing breeze of his acoustic-guitar fingerpicking and the compelling hush of his sandpaper voice, it’s easy to be swept off your feet by Florida folkie Sam Beam (aka Iron & Wine) — until you realize he’s singing lyrics like, “When all the tomorrows are gone / There will be teeth in the grass.” And even then, you’ll still find yourself swooning for a guy who can make death sound so sweet.
