Julez hits the highway and cranks up the tunes in the video for her latest single New Connection — premiering exclusively on Tinnitist.
Filmed during a road trip to Slab City, Calif., the playful home movie-style clip is a perfect illustration of the singer-guitarist’s infectious track, which delivers an exuberant and adventurous fusion of scrappy garage-punk, melodic indie-pop. exotic belly-dance grooves and more. It’s a new direction for the East Coast blues-rocker, whose previous songs have worked the rootsier, more traditional side of the street.
“For this single I have tried to experiment with different instruments and musical style,” Julez confirms. “This particular single features synth!”
Charting her own course is nothing new for the up-and-coming New York and New Jersey artist, who grew up in a musical family and got her start while studying at SUNY Purchase college. At the young age of 23, Julez — who lists Grace Slick, Bonnie Raitt, Rickie Lee Jones and Linda Ronstadt among her influences — has already opened for Grammy winner Tracy Bonham and is well on her way. We suggest you buckle up and enjoy the ride.
