Classic Album Review: Brendan Benson | The Alternative To Love

This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

“I wanna go back to the way it was,” laments singer-guitarist Brendan Benson on this third CD.

If by “the way it was,” he’s referring to the shimmery guitars, howling synths, bouncy beats and harmonies of authentic ’70s power-popsters like Big Star and Badfinger, he’s already there. And you’ll want to join him.
