Classic Album Review: The Barrymores | All Nighters

The ska sextet are the life of the party once again on their sophomore full-length.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Some bands just wanna have fun. Local ska mainstays The Barrymores just wanna have it again.

Like its predecessor, their sophomore full-length All Nighters is another informal and inviting affair. As usual, this female-fronted, horn-heavy sextet keep the lyrical mood upbeat and the ska flowing. And they spike the punch with tasty shots of groovy reggae, buzzsaw punk, shiny happy pop, classic rock and even poodlehead metal to make sure nobody gets bored and cuts out early. Catch their next bash and see if they’re aren’t the life of the party.

FILE UNDER: Party platters.

TELLING SONG TITLE: Just Another Stupid Day.
