Let’s face it: If there’s one genre in which more is almost always better, it’s metal. And you can’t get much more bang for your buck than you get on Contaminated VI, the latest budget-priced compilation from fearless extreme-music label Relapse.
This two-disc collection delivers 39 rounds of merciless punishment from a veritable gauntlet of bruisers and brawlers — the thundering dino-might of Mastadon, the crypt-keeper invocations of Nile, the Sabbathical paranoia of Bongzilla, the helter-skelter mayhem of Pig Destroyer, the southern ’70s riff-rock of Pentagram and even the bathtub-crank speed-punk of the awesome Zeke. To ask for more would be rude — and masochistic.
