Satch Sends You A Present In The Post

The singer-songwriter makes a full-length splash with his sophisticated debut album.

Satch delivers a Present In The Post with his new debut album — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

After a string of singles and remixes from throughout 2022 and 2023, Satch makes a full-length splash with emotional songs and well-penned lyrics that deal with everything from addiction, depression and dysphoria to family, pride and religion. Over the top of gentle, breezy beats and an infectious, catchy grooves, the artist brings his audience hard-hitting moments and deep connections that take elements from jazz, lo-fi and EDM.

“The message from this album is one of empowerment,” he says. “I went from being ‘present in’ and dreaming of my post-transition future, to making that post-transition future my present reality. And the catalyst for that was the decision to be myself. The album was recorded at three different London studios in Tileyard, Queens Park and West Hampstead with producer Itamar Lapidot. We’d been introduced through a mutual co-writer in Nashville, who asked me to ‘be his friend’ when he moved to London. I’m glad I did. The arrangement and production on these albums came from three friends (with longtime collaborator Will Nash in tow) taking great care over these stories being reflected as authentically as possible in the music.”

Satch is the moniker of jazz-pop songwriter Joshua Satchell, an artist who’s turning heads as a distinct vocal talent with heavily relatable tracks. The artist has seen performances across notable stages such as Glastonbury, Reeperbahn, The Great Escape, London Pride, Brighton Pride, Queer Spirit Festival and Milton Keynes Pride, all backed by a formidable band.

Growing up in the church, the entire household played instruments giving him a natural melodic and harmonic ability. Born as a boy within a girl’s body, high school was the transitional catalyst that saw Joshua’s grades begin to suffer until eventually he was kicked out. Afterward, In a maelstrom of confusion, somehow he found songwriting — the only thing that made sense. Eventually, he scraped the courage to start sharing his songs in public — Satch was taking form. Inspired by the likes of early John Mayer to Lauryn Hill, Nashville songcrafters to ’90s R&B harmony, connecting with audiences through music, whilst telling his story through song is what Satch is all about.
