Late-Night TV Music | Sept. 26, 2019

Brittany Howard, Carole King, Gary Clark Jr. and more mix it up on the small screen.

Feeling a bit restless? Not sure what you’d like to listen to? The late-night talk shows had your number on Thursday night, dutifully offering up a nicely mixed bag of pop and blues, newbies and legends, and singer-songwriters and combos. My pick of the evening would have to be Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard, showcasing the soulful ballad Stay High from her recent solo album Jaime on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. A close second: The legendary Carole King, performing her classic It’s Too Late with The Roots on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. For something more bluesy, Texas guitar slinger Gary Clark Jr. did double duty on Jimmy Kimmel Live, delivering Pearl Cadillac and When I’m Gone from his album This Land. And finally, if you were in the mood for dancing, The Late Late Show With James Corden let Loud Luxury and Bryce Vine bring the get down to the small screen with I’m Not Alright. Though they definitely were.
