Classic DVD Review: Sting | … All This Time

The singer-songwriter delivers a moving show in the immediate aftermath of 9/11.

This came out in 2001 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

The Main Course: A passionately delivered live performance taped for a small audience in the courtyard of Sting’s Tuscan villa hours after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11.

Side Dishes: A lengthy documentary on the preparations for the show, which was nearly cancelled in the wake of the tragedy; three songs that didn’t make the final edit; a feature that allows you to flip between rehearsals and final performances of songs.

Easter Eggs: As far as I know, none.

Final Verdict: The show is tasteful, moving and beautifully filmed, while the documentary makes for compelling viewing. Granted, I’d be a lot more excited if they hadn’t just shown the thing on A&E a few weeks ago. But those three extra tracks — including Every Little Thing She Does is Magic — are pretty cool.
