Late-Night TV Music (Isn’t That Special Edition?) | May 11, 2020

Tame Impala, Lady Antebellum and Sam Fischer effect change on the airwaves.

We all like to feel special sometimes. But in a pinch, are you willing to settle for special effects? Well, you’ll have to — because that’s what the late-night TV music gods were serving up on Monday night. Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker cloned himself to perform the fuzzy dance-rocker Is It True on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert (bonus points for flopping one of the shots to make himself seem ambidextrous). Lady Antebellum took a green-screen vacation from isolation while playing their latest country-pop charmer Champagne Night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. And singer-songwriter Sam Fischer made it clear he has way more Zoom friends than you during his rendition of the lush ballad The City on The Late Late Show With James Corden. Thanks for rubbing that in, dude. Hope it made you feel special.
