Classic Album Review: Biffy Clyro | Infinity Land

This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Sure, their name sounds like an industrial disinfectant. But Biffy Clyro are in fact a Scottish alt-rock power trio. And a fairly interesting one on their third full-length Infinity Land.

In a reasonably successful bid to live up to its title, this 13-song disc marries the angular buzzsaw guitar riffs of post-grunge and the angular beats of post-punk to the earnest and melodic vocals of frontman Simon Neil (though he’s also capable of a good light-socket shriek when called for). Turns out to be a match made in heaven — at least Weezer-geek heaven.
