With The Carice Singers, one of the U.K.’s most acclaimed chamber choirs, Pinson captures the timeless elegance of Dickinson’s words. Complementing these performances, London-based hip-hop artists/poets Armanious and Tanaka Fuego contribute original texts, bringing a fresh, modern-day perspective to themes like truth, desire, and mortality. This dynamic interplay between traditional and contemporary voices bridges two centuries of artistic expression, both sonically and lyrically.
“Emily Dickinson’s poetry speaks to universal themes of existence, and I wanted to explore those ideas from contrasting angles,” says Pinson. “The collaboration between a classical choir and contemporary hip-hop artists seemed like a compelling way to examine the enduring relevance of her work.”
A Moment Of Deathlessness stands out as a significant release in Pinson’s already impressive career. He has worked across a wide range of media, including film, television, theatre, and video games. His most recent credits include the Ophir-nominated feature film The Art of Waiting, the Berlinale-selected documentary Speer Goes to Hollywood, and the critically acclaimed contemporary dance show Comrades In The Dark. He has also collaborated with award-winning composer Frank Ilfman, contributing to the scores of films like Gunpowder Milkshake and Ghost Stories.
