Dark Below grab you by the throat and hold on tight with the dark power of their new single Can’t Let Go — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
Featuring vocal contributions from Blacktop Mojo frontman Matt James, the Missouri power trio’s latest single hooks you from the start, swaggering into view with mysterious acoustic-guitar arpeggios, squiggly sonics, a thwacking backbeat and singer-guitarist Josh Campbell‘s plaintive, personal vocals — before the whole thing cracks wide open with an explosively anthemic chorus that sinks its hooks deep. Toss in a blazing solo and a dynamic quiet / loud arrangement that inexorably builds into a tidal wave of sonic intensity, and you’ve got a track that more than lives up to its handle.
Making the most of its three-minute running time, Can’t Let Go effectively showcases Dark Below’s signature blend of raw emotion, melodic power and gritty guitar-driven energy — amplified by the unforgettable vocal intensity of James. The lyrics dive into the depths of unresolved struggle, clinging memories, and the chaos of holding on when we know we should move on.
The single was produced by Malcolm Springer and recorded at Sound Emporium in Nashville. Matt Reggio served as the audio engineer, and Harley DeWinter laid down the explosive drum tracks, helping to create the track’s dynamic and layered sonic landscape.
“This song means a lot to us, and to have Matt James come in and take it to the next level was incredible,” Campbell says. “The team we had in the studio — from Malcolm and Matt to Harley and everyone at Sound Emporium — just brought a whole new fire to this project.”
So far, response has been impressive. Can’t Let Go has already amassed nearly 100,000 streams from 71,000 unique listeners, and earned 5,356 playlist adds and 2,029 saves.
