Classic DVD Review: The Ramones | Ramones: Raw

Hey, ho, let's go watch five hours of classic punk live footage, outtakes and more.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Raw is the word, all right.

This exhaustive collection of Ramones video footage — much shot by drummer, videophile and apparent band archivist Marky Ramone — is a disjointed jumble that includes everything from stunning rare concert clips to backstage bickering and tedious tour tomfoolery. Still, with more than five hours of material — including a commentary track by recently deceased guitarist Johnny, a dozen Easter eggs and a half-hour Italian concert from 1980 — it’s tough to complain.
