Classic DVD Review: The Rolling Stones | Rock And Roll Circus

Come one, come all!

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Come one, come all! It’s finally time for The Rolling Stones Rock And Roll Circus to be issued on DVD!

See the bizarre antics of The World’s Greatest Rock ’N’ Roll Band and other classic rock acts playing in a circus tent in 1968! Gape at the silliness of the whole affair, which finds the bands alternating with carnival shows! Marvel at The Who’s killer version of A Quick One, While He’s Away! Laugh at the stoned conversation between Mick Jagger and John Lennon! Feel vaguely disappointed by the six-song set by the Stones, whose lacklustre performance prompted them to shelve this proposed TV special! Feel vaguely disappointed again by the small amount of new backstage footage and commentaries from Mick, Keith Richards and others! Try to fathom the amount of money that must have been wasted on this folly! Put it on the shelf and forget about it! Come one, come all!
