Classic Album Review: The VaGiants | Waiting For The Night To Come

The riff-rawkers leave ’em wanting more with this posthumous powerhouse.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

If there’s a rule book for making money from indie albums, The VaGiants don’t seem to have read it.

The band decided to break up before releasing this sophomore set. And just to make it less commercially viable, they issued it only on vinyl. But even if they aren’t cashing in, they’re still rocking out here. Waiting For The Night To Come comes out swinging, kicks ass and takes names as the band blast through nine body-slamming shots of groovy riff-rawk that pack all the Tina Turner-meets-MC5 choogle we came to know, love and expect from them. And that means like it or not, The VaGiants end up playing by the first rule of show biz: Always leave ’em wanting more.
