Black Keys & Black Crowes Top Today’s Album Announcements

Here are two upcoming spring releases to add to your music calendar.

Black is the official colour of the day here at the Upcoming Releases desk, thanks to a pair of potentially great new albums heading your way this spring:

1 | The Black Keys announced that their star-studded 12th studio album Ohio Players arrives April 5. To whet your appetite, they just dropped the single Beautiful People (Stay High). Written by The Black KeysDan Auerbach and Patrick Carney with longtime friends Dan “The Automator” Nakamura and Beck, the celebratory, joyful cut is one of several songs on the album that feature collaborations between the band and friends / colleagues like Noel Gallagher, Greg Kurstin and others. Watch Beautiful People (Stay High) below:

2 | The Black Crowes say they’re “leaving the bullshit in the past” and releasing their first new album of original material in 15 years. Happiness Bastards, due March 15, will be their 10th studio LP. Since The Black Crowes reunited in 2019, they’ve made a triumphant return to form with over 150 shows spanning 20 countries worldwide, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Shake Your Money Maker, the album that put them on the map. Upon their return from the road, they knew they needed something new to show for their lost time. So Chris and Rich Robinson and longtime bassist Sven Pipien headed to the studio with producer Jay Joyce in early 2023 and the experiences of years past transcribed themself through the music as the band found their way back to their roots. Check out first single Wanting and Waiting below:

And of course, there are plenty more new releases where they came from. Here are the rest of today’s announcements. And don’t forget to visit the Upcoming Releases page to see all the new albums, EPs, singles, box sets, compilations, anthologies, retrospectives, soundtracks, vinyl reissues and cassettes on the way:
