The Ian Abel Band are in a Golden State of mind on their sunny new pop-rock travelogue California Nights — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
Arriving just in time for summer, the soaring track captures the vibrant energy of California with an infectious rhythm and an irresistible melody. California Nights channels the spirit of adventure and excitement synonymous with the City of Angels and beyond, making it the perfect anthem for summer.
“I wrote California Nights inspired by my experiences in California — from headlining a night at the Troubadour to group adventures in Joshua Tree, and recording sessions at the iconic United Recording Studios,” Abel says. He wanted California Nights to reflect the carefree spirit of the West Coast, making it the perfect anthem for a drive down Sunset Boulevard or a day at Venice Beach.
The song boasts contributions from an impressive lineup: It was written by Kenny Schwartz of Los Stellarians, engineered and mixed by Jon Graber (NOFX, All American Rejects) with an assist from Reade Wolcott, mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Alan Douches from West West Side Music (Sufjan Stevens, Patti Smith, Fleetwood Mac), and features backing vocals from Jackie Miclau of Mt. Joy.
Similarly, the Ian Abel Band features a talented ensemble of Nashville’s finest studio and touring musicians. Their track Shoes earned international acclaim when it was used in a wrestling promo. This placement led to a nomination for Best Song/Score In A Trailer at the Hollywood Music In Media Awards. Besides his work with his own band, Abel has showcased his lead guitar skills with Grand Ole Opry star T. Graham Brown and has played iconic Sunset Strip venues such as Whisky A Go Go and The Viper Room.
