Simon Denizart Reflects On 35 Years Of Mistakes

The Montreal-via-France jazz pianist’s cut grapples with his journey as an artist.

Simon Denizart shares a lifetime of experience on his reflective new single and video 35 Years Of Mistakes — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

The Montreal-via-France jazz pianist and composer’s tender ballad arrives enveloped in a flourish of melancholic strings, as Denizart grapples with his journey as an artist. “35 Years Of Mistakes tells the story of an existence made up of ups and downs, unfortunate choices and moments of grace,” he explains. “It’s an emotional musical journey that invites listeners to reflect on the power of resilience, the beauty of imperfection and the strength of perseverance.”

Originally from Créteil, Denizart arrived in Montreal in 2011 and wasted no time in getting his music heard. Working with the Canadian label The 270 Sessions, he produced Between Two Worlds (2015), Beautiful People (2016) and Darkside (2017). This period earned him the Radio-Canada Revelation award in 2016 and two ADISQ nominations in 2017 and 2018. Released in 2021 on the Laborie Jazz label, his fourth album Nomad offers a dynamic and original encounter between the piano and the calabash. It was also nominated for an ADISQ award in the Album of the Year – Jazz category.

The acclaimed pianist has played in Canada, France, Canada, Czech Republic, Cuba and elsewhere, and his performances leave no one indifferent. He plays sensitive, energizing music that spans a number of genres — everything from rock and classical to world music — and is sprinkled with subtle, accessible melodies. In 2023 he began a new collaboration with Canadian label Justin Time Records, who will release his forthcoming fifth album Piece of Mind.
