Phoebe Willo admits she was crying over you at 4am in her new single — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
The singer-songwriter’s dreamy new track arrives on the heels of her last single Lost in The Music and the success of a crowdfunding campaign that raised over $30,000. Speaking about how the track came about, Phoebe shares: “I wrote the song when I was up at 4 a.m. one morning, it is a song about regret, a missed opportunity, a relationship that could perhaps have developed had I tried a bit harder.”
The track starts with simple piano chords and ethereal backing vocals, slowly building with Phoebe’s fragile and emotional voice taking centre stage. It then continues to build with strings, percussion and musings about what could have been and what might have been lost.
Phoebe’s stunning performances never fail to impress, delivering beautiful melodies that wash over you, becoming firmly lodged in your head. The instrumental mid-section has you asking what instrument you’re hearing, and it’s a beautiful way to segment into the climatic ending of the track before everything calms down once more.
Phoebe is a 21-year-old singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Her inspirations come from artists like Lorde and Billie Marten, creating a sound that fits into the indie-pop genre but takes influence from a range of styles. The artist’s tracks are often rooted in personal feelings and experiences, from the intensely negative feelings centred on beauty and body image (Captured By My Own Monsters) to the joy of close friendships (My Friend Sarah Tonin).
