Classic Album Review: Amon Tobin | Out From Out Where

The electronica producer’s hauntingly creepy work could be a Euro thriller score.

This came out in 2002 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Born in Brazil, raised in the U.K. and now living in Montreal, drum ’n’ bass electronician Amon Tobin can obviously cross cultures comfortably. Which is what he does on this fourth CD, melding beatbox rhythms, manipulated samples and abrasive textures into an engagingly kinetic, artistically ambitious — and hauntingly creepy — work that could be a soundtrack to a European thriller.
