Classic Album Review: Emm Gryner | Asianblue

Fresth off her stint with Bowie, the singer-songwriter delivers a winning solo release.

This came out in 2002 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Resuming her solo career after a pretigious stint as a backup singer and keyboard player with David Bowie, Canada’s Emm Gryner comes out with a winner, taking super-sad lyrics about love (and lack thereof) and setting them to summery pop melodies and arrangements. Think Sheryl Crow’s C’Mon C’Mon as a breakup album. And think seriously about seeing her somewhere live.
