Today’s big story: The one and only Charlie Watts is “unlikely to be available” for The Rolling Stones’ upcoming No Filter Tour of America this fall, while he recuperates from an undisclosed medical procedure. Keith Richards’ longtime drummer Steve Jordan will fill in for the shows, which will reportedly be the first time Watts has been absent since joining the band nearly 60 years ago.
That’s a pretty big deal — certainly big enough for Eric Alper and I to chat about in today’s Sonic Reducers segment. Join us as we debate whether it’s still a Stones show without Charlie (it isn’t for me), ponder whether this is the first chink in the seemingly unstoppable band’s armour, and debate which other members they could feasibly tour without (sorry, Ronnie). Sonic Reducers: One topic. Two music nerds. Five minutes. Everything you need to know.
