Albums Of The Week: Half Human | Shape Language

Full of left turns, odd angles and a OCD-meets-ADHD vibe, the Brooklyn trio's third album distinguishes itself with sharp songcraft fusing punk, new wave, noise & more.

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Brooklyn experimental-rock trio Half Human return with their third album Shape Language. Over the course of 10 crisp tracks, the band exercise their knack for crackling off-kilter grooves and unpredictable, angular melodies.

The two singles — Seeing and Mineral Thinking — get right to the point with clear, inviting hooks, while in the context of the full album, the edges blur as the band’s wider interests in improvisation, tape loops and sonic exploration fill the seams.

Shape Language is available on limited-edition vinyl and all streaming platforms. Half Human will be supporting the release with a short Northeastern U.S. tour. Half Human are: Michael Disanto (drums); Timothy McKee (bass, voacls); John Whitlock (guitar, vocals). They co-wrote all the songs and recorded Shape Language in the fall of 2023 in Brooklyn.”
