Frank Follows Just Stopped By To Say Hey!

The Swedish pop-rockers shout into the void and hope for an echo in their new cut.

Frank Follows get your attention with their hooky, hazy new pop-rock single Hey! — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

The Swedish band explore new directions of their signature indie-rock sound, leaning into an honest, dynamic and upbeat approach. Hey! builds on the momentum of their previous single Lights Out, which found its way on to influential playlists in both Sweden and Denmark, becoming a pivotal release for the group. With over 152,000 streams, Frank Follows showcase their ever-evolving sound with this followup, which aims to propel the trio to even greater heights.

Hey! is rooted in lead singer Adrian Berhardson’s introspective journey in search of his voice. Embodying a newfound authenticity and vulnerability, Hey! delves into unchartered emotional depths with unwavering honesty. The track is driven forward by a slick guitar riff, which shape shifts and evolves as Adrian’s lyrics unfold. The drum line is a grounding force of the track, pounding away underneath the light and airy choruses. Hey! is an infectiously sunny, catchy track, boasting a memorable hook and captivating harmonies, yet all the while, a profound message of vulnerability and self-perception is woven into each refrain. The track’s conception began as a blossoming riff from guitarist Mans Ekholm and producer / keyboardist Olof Victor, over which Adrian penned the catchy refrain.

“This song is a shout into the void hoping to get an echo,” Adrian says. “It’s the selfish need to be heard. To be understood. When the vertigo from all the things flashing by gets unbearable, what else can you do but yell: Hey!”

Frank Follows’ members met as students at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, and have been honing their signature brand of indie-rock ever since. While the band looked for a lead singer, Adrian began recording vocal demos, and his captivating vocal tone and unique flair for performance quickly became the foundations of their debut album Flight Thoughts. It was a defining moment for the group, as their bold ambition secured their place as a rising force in the Swedish indie-rock scene.

Citing influences like Bombay Bicycle Club, Bon Iver, Dayglow and Phoenix, Frank Follows fuse their eclectic influences into a unique brand of indie-rock. Having performed at Swedish festivals, their latest offerings are an exciting addition to their engaging live sets.
