I’ll just give you a few minutes to look over the list, and then I’ll be back to take your order:

Luna Sol | Low ’N Easy

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “High mountain stoner-rock trio Luna Sol (fronted by Hermano guitarist David Angstrom) will release their third album Vita Mors on Sept. 20, and present its first excerpt with Low N’ Easy. A groove and blues-laden dive into Luna Sol’s sonic realm, Low N’ Easy is Angstrom’s story of gratitude and resilience as he navigates life’s uncertainties. He encourages listeners to embrace each moment and let go of negativity, inviting them to join him on a journey to savor life. The video carries themes of celebration, struggle, renewal, and perseverance that mirror the song’s heartfelt message.”

WarlocK A.D. | The Golden Showers Of Prestønia

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “The time has come! WarlocK A.D.’s sophomore album Book II: The Valley of Vâgené is set to be released on Sept. 27. Over two years in the making, this entry into the band’s saga is bigger, thicker, and more powerful than anything they have brought you before! The album is 12 tracks of interwoven musical storytelling implementing the use of motifs, themes, and callbacks. Recommended for fans of Nanowar of Steel, Angus McSix and Beast in Black, the quest to The Valley of Vâgené continues with the single The Golden Showers of Prestønia. “The title is a clear double entendre, the single is a cautionary tale detailing the events that follow Whiteacre’s failure to heed the advice of the wise wizard Horatus: Do not touch the water! This track was actually heavily inspired by the track Burn by Deep Purple — which also details the story of a dangerous female presence — something which can be heard especially in the song’s post-solo section.”

Mammoth Volume | Serpent In The Deep

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE:Mammoth Volume return Aug. 23 with Raised Up By Witches, a new album that harnesses their absolute fluency with the somehow compatible genres of ’70s progressive rock and modern stoner riffage. The result is an absorbing trek through head-nodding grooves, wispy instrumentation and quirky brilliance that’s riveting. “Raised Up By Witches was meant as a themed album but became more of an open field,” they say. “While still wanting to be respectful of previous fans of the band, we started to tell ourselves that Mammoth Volume is really whatever we record. So we put a thrash song on the album along with a ’70s style epic and some straight-up prog rock. In the end, it turned into something completely different than planned, which is what MV is all about.”

Curse The Son | R.I.P.

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Connecticut stoner and doom metal merchants Curse The Son announce the release of their fifth album Delirium on Sept. 6, and present the debut single with a groovy cover of Witchfinder General’s R.I.P. Curse The Son have endured the tests of time. Lineup shifts, traumatic personal losses and a global pandemic have found the band in a vastly different world. A dark world. A world that doesn’t feel very stable. Lyrically and conceptually, Delirium finds Curse The Son exploring and re-experiencing the fear, isolation, confusion and death from a time not so long ago. A slow descent into madness as we self-medicated, forced others away and suffered from the greatest losses of all: each other. Psychologically, the devastating emotional damage inflicted upon us and our children will never fully be understood. Drenched in these drowning vibes, Delirium was created.”

Dune | Insidious

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Thrash fans take note and get ready to dive into the dark and groovy tones of Insidious with the latest lyric video from the Saudi trash outfit Dune. The track comes from the band’s recently released debut EP Years Of Chains. This composition is a showcase of the band’s unique approach to music — chainsaw-heavy guitars, chunky bass slaps, and highly technical drums, all underscored by aggressive vocals. Insidious delves into themes around culture, urban legends, and personal issues, reflecting the depth and versatility of Dune‘s lyrical and musical expression. As the band continue to redefine the boundaries of modern metal, Insidious promises to be a standout moment on the EP.”

World On Alert | Freedom In Disguise

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE:World On Alert from Montreal are the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Gino LaPosta. They just released the compelling new single Freedom in Disguise, the second introduction to the debut self-titled EP coming out June 28. This track features the exceptional talents of Max Rex (CroMagnum) and Nick Amalfi, who join LaPosta and guitarist Alex Walsh. LaPosta says: “Musically, this one is a heavy track with a soft middle that builds up to the heavy end again. You can hear some proggy Rush / Dream Theater / Tool vibes in there. Lyrically it is about standing up to the elites trying to control our lives and disguising it in freedom.”

Their sound is an electrifying blend of energy, rockin riffs, catchy powerful vocal melodies and contagious grooves. Influenced by classic rock and NWOBHM, this album is for fans of Clutch, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and more. If you’re into UFOs, interstellar demons, and exploring the hidden parts of your mind, this is the album for you! Today, get carried away by the battering guitar riffs of Jupiter Cyclops as they present the video for the album’s second single Between Worlds. It will transport you to another musical plateau with its groovy rock ’n’ roll and ’70s proto-metal.”

Artach | Frozen Factory

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “From the depths of Newfoundland, black metal duo Artach return this summer to present their experimental side with their latest EP Sgrios, due in July. The upcoming EP ” might surprise some listeners as the band took on an experimental direction to incorporate more industrial metal sounds a la Rammstein, Fear Factory and Pain. The combination is a mash of styles that the duo felt was fresh and original. “Not a ton of black metal bands will have Rammstein-esque synth-guitar sounds, tremolo-picked riffs, and harsh black metal vocals,” they say. “We talked about doing this industrial-styled four-song EP to keep active and experiment ahead of the release of our third full-length in the fall of 2024. At first, we thought about calling it a different project name, but quickly realized we could and would make it close enough to the Artach style to keep the name. You will hear industrial metal through the Artach blackened-thrash lens.”

Paradise In Flames | Black Wings

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Since 2003, Brazil’s Paradise In Flames have been shattering boundaries and spreading an identity-filled sound infused with blazing notes of pure hatred. Their latest concept album Blindness is out now, complemented with a video for the single Black Wings. It mixes Brazilian folk elements with a direct reference to forró (regional Brazilian musical style). It rescues the pre-epidemic period of history, presenting the protagonist and her life story. Coined as extreme philosophical symphonic protester metal, Paradise In Flames have been honing their identity since their 2021 album Act One and have matured and improved since then, intertwining Brazilian bossa nova, death metal, and black metal.”

The Aphelion | Fragility

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Ottawa’s progressive metal titans The Aphelion announce the release of their latest single Fragility, from their upcoming concept album Nascence,  due Aug. 9. The single is a cross-section of influences from classical music to Radiohead and musical theatre, while still stepping heavily into the band’s love of more contemporary progressive metal. They comment: “Fragility is where the first real cracks in the protagonist’s psyche begin to form. The man awakens one morning remembering nothing but violence, and yet his wife lays sleeping peacefully next to him and nothing is out of place. He begins to wonder if he has had a vision of death, and whether it was his death or hers that he saw, and fears that the worst has yet to come. Musically, the song is a blend of classical orchestration, art rock sensibilities, and heavy riffs.”

Zealed | Divination

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “U.S. independent project Zealed just released their potent third single Divination. Featuring their unique blend of symphonic black metal and melodic deathcore, this track promises an intense, fast, and brutally melodic experience that will draw in listeners. The band shares what people can expect: “Musically it offers a thrilling experience with rapid tempo shifts, an abundance of riffs, and slow, but intricate breakdowns. Lyrically: Same with lyrics, it’s like someone slammed a bunch of energy drinks and destroyed what was left of a brutal song, in a good way!” Divination was the second collaboration between instrumentalist Christopher Marron and vocalist Chris White. They wanted to switch things up from their last single, yet maintain the same cohesive sound. This single is a key release leading up to Zealed’s forthcoming EP Eschaton. The EP will feature all of the band’s previous releases, meticulously remixed and remastered to ensure a consistent and powerful sound throughout. This collection will set the stage for the band to explore new musical directions in the future.”

Prisoner | Skies Are Blackened

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “High-energy Canadian metallers Prisoner share the electrifying single Skies Are Blackened from their eagerly awaited EP House of Cards, due Aug. 21. Known for their hard-hitting riffs and unmistakably tight grooves, Prisoner continue to push the boundaries of modern rock music. They comment on the single: “It’s a hard-hitting, in-your-face hard rock/metal track rooted in thrash metal influence. Its upbeat tempo and high-energy rhythm drive the listener into the anthemic chorus topped with soaring high vocals. Lyrically it speaks on world ideals and how we interact with one another in society under a scoped direction created by the upper echelon of people running our world.” House of Cards reflects the band’s dynamic journey, with the current lineup forming during the recording process. Founded in Calgary in 2020, Prisoner draw from classic/hard rock, heavy metal, and blues to create a sound that is both rooted in tradition and refreshingly modern.”
