Classic Album Review: Easily Amused | Simple Stuff

The indie folk-pop duo stop moving long enough to record this melodic offering.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

WHERE YOU’LL FIND THEM: On the endless road.

FILE UNDER: Two for the show.

LOWDOWN: If their name doesn’t ring a bell, that’s a compliment — the co-ed folk-pop duo of Renee Lamoureux and Keith Macpherson spend most of their time on tour. Which makes their new full-length Simple Stuff your best chance to get caught up with them. The title handily sums up their approach on these 11 melodic cuts, which introduce the strummy rootsiness of Indigo Girls and Melissa Etheridge to the shimmering pop of Big Star and The Posies. After this, their name oughta ring a bell.
