Another week, another musical hero taken too soon. This time it’s Tom Verlaine from Television. I doubt I’ve gone more than a month without playing Marquee Moon since it came out more than 45 years ago. I never got the chance to interview him, but I was thrilled to talk to his former bandmate and friend Richard Hell once (I was less thrilled to find my recorder had crapped out during our chat, but that’s another story). I suggest you spin any of Television or Tom’s albums in his honour if you haven’t already.
