Black Bouquet Promise: No More Blood

The North Carolina rockers offer a harrowing preview of the LP Pray To The Knife.

Black Bouquet share a cathartic tale of love and loss in their new single and video No More Blood — showcasing today on Tinnitlst.

The latest preview of the North Carolina rockers’ imminent new album Pray To The Knife, No More Blood is a striking, sophisticated combination of sounds and styles — goth, emo, post-punk, art-rock, neo-classical and more — topped by lyrics and passionate vocals delivering a harrowing narrative of death, obsession and regret worthy of Edgar Allen Poe:

“After all this, I don’t think I want it any more than it’s worth
Everything I’ve brought to you, it wasn’t enough to hold you
All my efforts only showed me I don’t know how much you’d bleed for me
When I close my eyes I still see notes in the floor
Carved by your nails as they stole you
Calling out to me, all covered in blood, you still look so tough my angel
All my efforts only showed me I dont think you needed me
It wasn’t enough, no it wasn’t enough to save you
If only once more I could just brush that bit of hair off of your cheek
No more blood
No more pain
Not from me
Enough.”

And there’s more where that came from. Pray To The Knife, due Feb. 16, is a story of survival after grief told through the eyes and in the words of troubled lovers. The themes of finding self worth amidst the wreckage of personal traumas, tragedies, and loss are woven through the tracklist in direct, conversational lyricism and pummeling instrumentals that set every scene.

With such a complex and highly composed style that involves collaborative songwriting and arrangement contributions from all six members, the idea of creating a concept album takes Black Bouquet’s work to yet another level. With harmonies created in the vocals, the strings and the guitar work, Pray To The Knife will be an album for the ages to indie rock lovers of all kinds.

Black Bouquet are a Raleigh, N.C. six-piece band whose sound incorporates a number of genres, fuelled by a base of My Chemical Romance and emo with healthy doses of ’80s guitar rock, new wave and goth/post punk, making them attractive to many types of music fans. Breathing new life into emo using sounds and skills from other revitalized genres makes Black Bouquet a promising powerhouse fans will want to watch.
