Gordon Lightfoot’s Bandmembers Are Keeping His Music Alive

The Canadian icon's longtime touring band are taking his repertoire on the road.

Gordon Lightfoot’s longtime touring band will celebrate the Canadian icon’s immortal music with a concert in Markham, Ont., on March 28, promoters have announced.

The original lineup of bassist Rick Haynes, drummer Barry Keane, keyboardist Mike Heffernan and guitarist Carter Lancaster — joined by The Lightfoot Band‘s newest member, lead singer and rhythm guitarist Andy Mauck — will perform classics like Sundown, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, If You Could Read My Mind, Beautiful and Carefree Highway, along with fan favourites and deep cuts.

Lightfoot’s beloved repertoire will come to life in the hands of veteran musicians who were at the Canadian icon’s side for thousands of shows for over a half century — and who helped create his inimitable and unforgettable sound. The world-renowned singer-songwriter died of natural causes on May 1, 2023 at age 84.

The Lightfoot Band’s show will take place on Thursday, March 28 at 8 p.m. at the Flato Markham Theatre, 171 Town Centre Blvd., in Markham. Tickets cost $15 – $98 and are available HERE.
