Myk Gordon Is Looking For A Brand New Love

The Vancouver singer-songwriter's latest cut is reminiscent of classic Nick Lowe.

Myk Gordon wants to find a Brand New Love in his new single and lyric video — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

The latest preview of the Vancouver singer-songwriter’s upcoming album Born To Be — produced by Los LobosSteve Berlin and featuring an all-star musical cast — Brand New Love is an Americana-tinged pop-rocker whose buoyant mood and sharp lyrics are reminiscent of Nick Lowe at his most sincere and romantic:

“I’m looking for a brand-new love
The kind that I’ve been dreaming of
More than idle company
Sophisticated harmony
Someone who can hold me fast
Something that is built to last
I’m not afraid to take it slow
To get to know you
Let me show you… ”

You can expect more of that in his soon-to-be-released album. Gordon’s decades of songwriting experience shine through Born To Be’s tracks, and so too does his expert grasp on the Americana genre. Listeners can expect exceptional harmonies, a dynamic and lively sound, and featured members of New Pornographers and NRBQ alongside musicians who have played with Neko Case and Mavis Staples. Gordon travelled to Portland to record the album, his second collaboration with multiple Grammy-winner Berlin of Los Lobos and The Blasters.

Gordon is not your typical musical artist. Alongside his music career, he is a high-ranking teacher of Aikido and works as a psychotherapist. These vocations allow him to draw on all aspects of the physical, mental and spiritual world to channel his experiences into songwriting. His multifaceted approach to life and artistry has set him apart in the industry. Gordon has graced stages and festivals worldwide, with notable residencies in London, Nashville and Toronto. Gordon’s early years saw him share the stage with singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith in Toronto.
