Classic Album Review: Rheostatics | The Nightlines Session

Canada's quirkiest rockers offer delightfully demented pop from the left of the dial.

This came out in 1998 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

These dozen songs, snippets and skits from Canada’s quirkiest rockers were recorded for CBC Nightlines’ finale last year. But not many caught it — it aired the night Princess Diana died.

Here’s your chance to catch what you missed: 36 minutes of typical ’Static eclecticity, from intimate acoustic ditties to funky rap with guests Farm Fresh and The Subliminal Kid. Although the lads’ aren’t-we-clever antics can be a bit much at times, for the most part this is a delightfully demented pop from the left of the dial.
