Classic Album Review: Godsmack | Godsmack

The cover of the Boston foursome's album is far more daring that their music.

This came out in 1998 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Don’t let the gothy, pierced gal on the cover fool ya. This Boston foursome’s debut disc is heavy metal, pure and simple — and fairly conventional.

There isn’t a buzzsaw guitar line, broodingly growled lyric, wah-wah solo or tom-tom fill here that you haven’t heard 100 times before. Oddly enough, despite that, you still won’t be able to remember any of these songs five minutes after the disc is out of your player.
