For the past five months of the TV writers’ strike, I have dutifully and dependably compiled this list every single goddamn week — even when it was nothing but a handful of endless, lame reruns. So of course, on the one and only week that I go on holiday and decide to skip it, they settle — and the talk shows start making up for lost time by frantically booking anybody and everybody they can corral. Sigh. Anyway, on the plus side, it looks like it’s gonna be a good week to stay up late (or at least make your PVR burn the midnight oil). Even better: If the actors’ strike continues, the chat shows might need a lot of musical guests to fill all that airtime. Of course, if the actors would like to end their walkout, clearly all their union really needs to do is send me somewhere on vacation. I hear Portugal is nice this time of year.
