Akarti’s latest love can’t get enough of him in his new single Addicted — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
A hard-hitting track with an enticing flow and catchy hook, Addicted takes influence from the phenomenon of U.K. drill with its high-energy tops and hard-hitting 808s. Boasting a melodic sample from P. Diddy’s I Need A Girl (Part 2) — also used recently in James Hype’s club banger Ferrari — the beat fuses the nostalgia of old melodies with cutting-edge modernity.
“Basically I was at home browsing through beats and I couldn’t really find anything that I was vibing to,” Akarti says. “I had already booked studio time so I had to go up there with nothing prepared. Then we started browsing through some beats and we found that one beat that had the vibe to it.
“We wanted to have some fun with it so that’s why the song ended up being I’m feeling myself type of song and that’s how the infamous line in the song was created, ‘I’m a bit of a dick, that’s why she addicted’ Everybody says it reminds them of the track Doja by Central Cee.”
Akarti first got into music in 2014, writing down the thoughts in his mind that led to writing rhymes from the feelings he felt. The Danish/Tamil artist’s music really set off in 2020 with the lockdown encouraging his first release, with a flurry of singles following in the years after. High-energy, inventive writing and a beat that would feel right at home in the top 50, Akarti is making his mark on the industry, definitely one to watch as Danish drill continues to be hot on the heels of the U.K.
