Matilde G steps in the ring to deliver a knockout punch in her new single and video Fighter — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
Co-written and produced with Josefin Glennmark and Erik Lewander, the song is already making waves for its powerful message of hope and determination. With soaring vocals and a catchy beat, Fighter is sure to resonate with anyone who has struggled with mental health issues and is looking for a way to fight back.
“I wrote this song from my own personal experience with depression,” says Matilde G. “I found the motivation to respond and overcome that difficult moment through the love for my family. I wanted to create an anthem that would inspire others to fight back and take control of their lives.” That’s exactly what Fighter does. With lyrics like “I’m alive, and I chose my heart over mind, gonna kill the demons inside, I’m the one in charge of my life, and I’m winning this fight,” the song is a rallying cry for anyone who has faced the darkness of depression.
“Everyone on social media seems to have the perfect life and relationship,” Matilde says. “But let’s be real, we’re all just human, and we all have our struggles. As a singer, I want to keep it real with my fans and encourage them to fight for their own happiness. It’s okay to admit that you’re not OK and to work on yourself.”
But it’s not just the lyrics that make Fighter stand out. Matilde’s powerful vocals are set to a catchy melody and a driving beat sure to get your heart pumping. The video features the rising star in the boxing ring, representing the fight against depression through physical activity. “Boxing is a great way to channel your energy and fight back against your demons.”
And she’s not kidding. She trained at The Ring Boxing Community in Singapore with the WBC Asia Silver Champion Abdou to prepare for the video. Her opponent in the ring will be the WBO Asia Pacific Champion Kirstie Gannaway. It’s clear Matilde G is taking the fight against depression seriously, and she’s using her platform as a rising star to inspire others to do the same.
Fighter follows the success of her previous single Hypocrite, which received critical acclaim and was featured by MTV in the U.S. Watch the video for Fighter above, sample more from Matilde G below, and keep up with her on her website, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Twitter.
