Now Hear This: Pil & Bue | Special Agents

Two scrappy Norwegians give Cedric and Omar & run for the money with their latest batch of proggy-yet-slamming tracks, artfully shredded guitars & high-angle vocals.

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE:Pil & Bue are a fierce duo from the very north of Norway.

With one of the country’s best vocalists, Petter Carlsen, singing and playing guitar, and Gøran Johansen slaying the drums, they are an explosion of hard rock. The vigorous and resolute band, that has been touring consistently since the release of their previous album The World Is A Rabbit Hole, is ready to release even more music, on a new album called Special Agents.

With subtle, but pronounced references to artists like Placebo, Deftones, Sigur Rós, Anathema and Mars Volta, Pil & Bue deliver “hard, gloomy and joyful music” based on topics like memories, childhood aspirations, use of imagination, video games, and the intriguing online rabbit holes.

Pil & Bue formed in February 2013, when they had their first jam. In July of the same year they spent two days recording their debut album, Push Start Button. The band’s raw and melodic music quickly struck a note with Hollywood director Tommy Wirkola, who included the Pil & Bue single You Win Again in his now cult-status movie Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2014. Also, the single Fire from their second album Forget The Past, Let’s Worry About The Future is featured on the end credits of the 2017 Netflix film What Happened To Monday.”
