Okami Three mix and match sonic colours on their dream-like, psychedelic earworm of a single Blue — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
Self-described as “A contemporary culture clash combined with multitudes of melded musical methods,” the New York alt-rock trio’s sound is layered, impassioned and wholly unique. Marked by lush guitars, atypical vocal melodies, and relatable lyrics about loss, Blue is both melancholic and otherworldly.
“Pinning our sound down to a specific genre or style has always been difficult for us,” they admit. “Our music is derived from the moods, sentiments, and emotions that originate from day-to-day life experience. Our latest release Blue is about losing someone, which we’ve all experienced in some form or another at some time. We like to think it reflects a bit of the relativity between us all.”
Formed in January 2021, Okami Three blend elements of alternative rock, electro-acoustic, post-grunge, power-pop, and psychedelic rock. Their songs are performed with organic instrumentation that consist of guitar-driven melodies and progressions, often supported by piano or organ. The band’s penchant for vocal harmonies is artfully woven into their sound, creating a unique quality to their material. Blue is their sixth release.
