Late-Night TV Music (Taking Direction Edition) | Sept. 16, 2020

Kylie goes disco, Glass Animals go for props, and Colbert goes classical.

It’s one of those days when I’m running in three directions at once. Which is why this is so late. But at least I’m not alone — Wednesday’s Late-Night TV Music lineup was also going in three different directions. On the one hand, you had the one and only Kylie Minogue, personifying the title of her upcoming album Disco with her performance of Say Something on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. On the other hand, you had indie-popsters Glass Animals, breaking out the props for their rendition of Tangerine on The Late Late Show With James Corden. And then, straight from left field, you had piano virtuoso Lang Lang, playing Variations 23 and 30 from J.S. Bach’s The Goldberg Variations on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. How’s that for variety? Actually, don’t answer that; no time to talk. Gotta run.
