Indie artists get a lot of play on this site, as you’ve probably noticed. On Thursday, they also took centre stage on the late-night talk shows. Look no further than British popster Rex Orange County, who hit the couch with his bandmates — and welcomed some Spiderman-inspired dancers — for his performance of 10/10 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. And he was not alone: Over on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, rockers Big Thief went dark for their performance of Not, a cut from their brand-new album Two Hands. Meanwhile, on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Les Savy Fav’s Tim Harrington got his Ziggy (as in Stardust, not funny pages) on to deliver their oldie Let’s Get Out of Here. In fact, the only semi-big act working the airwaves was Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard, who continued to bang the drum for her excellent solo debut Jaime with another live version of Stay High, this time on The Late Late Show With James Corden. I really wish I could, Brittany. But I’ve got a weekend’s worth of album reviews to post — including more than a few great indie releases. Stay tuned.
