Echo In the Canyon
Filmmaker Andrew Slater examines the roots of the historic music scene in L.A.’s Laurel Canyon in this documentary, which includes the music of The Byrds, Beach Boys, Buffalo Springfield, Mamas and the Papas and more — plus interviews with everyone from Fiona Apple and Beck to Ringo Starr and Brian Wilson. Unless you live in a major city, I doubt this will be opening at a theatre near you — but it should be coming to an arthouse cinema or on-demand channel soon. That’s good enough for me.
