“Let’s all work together and make life worthwhile,” Canned Heat famously sang. I don’t know that Wednesday’s late-night TV music segments had that kind of impact on my existence — but they did feature artists pooling their talents. Country veteran Ronnie Milsap enlisted the aid of Little Big Town for a — well, shall we diplomatically say loose? — rendition of his classic Lost in the Fifties Tonight on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Non-threatening popster Lauv drafted the inexplicably dreamy Troye Sivan for his performance of I’m so tired… on Jimmy Kimmel Live (Lauv also did a bonus version of his hit I Like Me Better online). And Last Call with Carson Daly continued to dole out songs from a recent gig by indie supergroup Boygenius, featuring Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker. The lone holdout in the bunch? Solo singer-songwriter Sasha Sloan, making her TV debut with the depressing dysfunctional family ballad Older on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Hope that made somebody’s night worthwhile.
